Pernilla Wiberg takes part in Seapilot2star
From ski racing to sail racing for Pernilla Wiberg.
Sweden’s largest double-handed sailing race, Seapilot2star, will receive reinforcement of the former alpine ski racer Pernilla Wiberg this year. Pernilla sails Seapilot2star together with Volvo Oceanrace sailor Anders Lewander. Pernilla has sailing in her blood, and has often sailed the areas around Oxelösund down towards Oskarshamn.
“It is extremely pleasing to have Pernilla in this sailing race, based on our goal of attracting more female and young sailors to Seapilot2star,” says Anders Bergström at True Heading AB/Seapilot, who is the main sponsor of the competition.
About Seapilot2star:
Seapilot2star is one of Sweden’s most popular sailing races with around 100 participating boats the recent years. There are only two people on board each boat, which makes the race of about 300 nautical miles one of the most challenging during the season. Already now, two months before the competition, 103 boats are reported to start. We believe in record participation based on the maximum number of 125 participating boats.
The competition starts Monday 29th of May at 8:00 a.m. from Oxelösund. Before the finish, there will be pitstops in Visby and Oskarshamn. Final goal in Oxelösund again between Wednesday and Thursday the same week.
